PK-X

PKX combines the acrobatic basics of parkour and the functional strength conditioning elements of crossfit training. Parkour is the art of movement, a method of overcoming urban structural obstacles using a variety of vaults, climbs, catleaps, jumps and tumbles. Crossfit is an effective circuit-type training system used by military and security professionals that emphasizes all-body exercises. Together, these two techniques target the fundamental aspects of complete fitness: Strength, agility, endurance and flexibility. PK-X is a fun and challenging class that will push the limits of every participant, ensuring an observable change in health and body composition. Participants will learn how to vault over rails, scale walls, perfect handstands and cartwheels, lift or push their weight and use their surroundings as an urban gym.

Yoga
Yoga at MAC is a combination of practicing Hatha yoga positions, which are used to strengthen and improve posture and increase flexibility. Breathing and breath control, which are also an integral part of the yoga experience are used to ease frayed nerves and calm stresses. Soft and relaxing music are used as a background to add to your pleasure and serenity.

Aerobics
This course is held at John Abbott in Rm. C0123. This class combines stretching, warm-up, low and high impact aerobic activity, cool down and stretching again in a one hour class. The instructor leads the class through a series of routines set to lively music. Emphasis is placed on activity to elevat the heart rate to a training level.

Mixed Martial Arts
Borrowing the most effective techniques from several styles, this course offers practical self-defense training along with intense conditioning. Students will be trained in both striking and grappling basics, along with drills to improve balance, coordination, strength, and stamina. The class will teach a wide variety of techniques from several styles including Brazilian and Japanese Jujutsu, Karate, Boxing, and Muy Thai. The instructor, Elijah Magrane, a grad student on Mac campus, has been studying martial arts for over ten years. Eli has black belt rankings in several arts and has competed in MMA competitions throughout the U.S.   Elijah.magrane@mail.mcgill.ca
